花鸟二物,造物生之以媚人者也。既产娇花嫩蕊心代美人,又病其不能解语,复生群鸟以佐之。此段心机,竟与购觅红妆,习成歌舞,饮之食之,教之诲之以媚人者,同一周旋之至也。上面这段来自清代李渔的《听鸟看花》。在其中他重复赋予花鸟二物以超越自然的灵气,不仅仅可以寄畅心灵,更到了“一人知己,死可无恨”的地步。这种情感在中国文化里根深蒂固。艺术史学家诺曼·布列逊在他的著作《静物画四论》中,开头就讲了这样一个故事:一位到巴黎拜访朋友的中国画家,第一天就去了闻名遐迩的卢浮宫参观。
