１９９５年中国烟草总公司青州烟草研究所从美国引进白肋烟品种１２个，１９９６～１９９７年在鄂西建始县、恩施市、湖北省白肋烟研究所和五峰县安排试验。结果表明：ＴＮ９０、Ｋｙ８９５９、Ｋｙ９０７表现优质，高产，抗病性好，抗旱力强，比当地白肋烟主栽品种建白８０增产５％～１２％，增收４％～１６％。原烟外观质量优良，烟碱含量适中，化学成分协调，香吃味好，适于市场的需要，有广阔的推广应用前景。
In 1995, Qingzhou Tobacco Research Institute of China National Tobacco Corporation introduced 12 varieties of burley tobacco from the United States. From 1996 to 1997, they conducted experiments in Jianshe County, Enshi City, Hubei Province and Burley Smoke Research Institute in Hubei Province and Wufeng County. The results showed that TN90, Ky8959 and Ky907 showed high quality, high yield, good disease resistance and strong drought resistance, yielding 5% ~ 12% and yield increasing 4% ~ 16% more than the local cultivar “Bai 80”. The original appearance of good quality tobacco, nicotine content is moderate, chemical composition, smell good taste, suitable for the needs of the market, there is a broad prospect of promotion.
