Jinan is the capital of Shandong Province and the only fortified metropolis in Chiang Kai-shek’s remaining hinterland of Shandong. At the battlefield meeting held by the East China Field Army, the senior generals from all walks of life conducted a lively discussion on seizing Jinan, and the atmosphere was extremely active.
