From the late nineteenth century to the first half of the twentieth century, some Asian countries such as Turkey, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines emerged a Latinization wave in their contacts with Western languages and cultures. Although these countries have different historical backgrounds and different cultures, all these countries have obvious common ground in their literary reform practice. The article analyzes the factors behind the reform in these countries and believes that the reform is directly or indirectly contributed by many factors. Among them, the factors of politics, science and technology, education and language play a leading role. It is the basic principle of natural selection and the needs of the times, society, nations and languages themselves.
