Wild rice O. officinalis (CNW 258, CNW 259) and O.eichingeri (CNW 260, CNW 261) have CC genome and high resistance to brown planthopper (BPH) and whitebacked planthopper (WBPH). To transfer the resistant gene(s) of the wild rice into Asian cultivated rice, the interspecific crosses between O. sativa L. (AA) and O. officinalis and O. eiclingeri (CC) was made in present study. Embryo rescue was used in the experiment. The young embryos at 12 d after pollination were sterilized in 75% alcohol for 2-4 min and in NaClO for 20 min, and then washed with bacteria-free water for 2-4 times. The sterilized embryos were cultured in 1/4 MS medium with sucrose 30 g/1 and agar 7 g / 1 in dark until they germinated. The germinated embryos were transferred to 1/4 MS medium with MET 1 mg/ 1, NAA 0.3 mg/1 in tubes under room light at 25℃. The young plantlets in tubes with leaves and root system were transplanted into soil for plant growing of several months.
