In order to study the effect of antibacterial peptide CJH on the inhibition of growth performance and meat quality of piglets caused by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), 18 healthy and aged Tunchang pigs with similar body weight and age were randomly divided into three groups of 6 Repeat, respectively, blank control group, LPS group and CJH + LPS group. The LPS group and CJH + LPS piglets were injected intraperitoneally with LPS on the 2nd and 14th day of the experiment. The piglets in the CJH + LPS group were injected with antimicrobial peptide CJH on the 2nd, 6th, 10th and 14th day of the experiment. The blank control group were injected with the same amount of normal saline Alternative, the test period 14 d. The results showed that in the growth performance, LPS group significantly reduced the average daily gain (P <0.01) and significantly decreased the average daily feed intake (P <0.05) compared with the control group and the CJH + LPS group, (P <0.05). Compared with the control group, the diarrhea rate of piglets in LPS group was significantly increased (P <0.01), while the diarrhea rate of piglets in CJH + LPS group was significantly lower than that of LPS group <0.05), but still significant difference compared with the control group (P <0.05). In terms of meat quality, LPS group significantly reduced carcass weight, slaughter rate and cooked meat ratio (P <0.05), and significantly increased drip loss and shear stress (P <0.05) compared with control group and CJH + LPS group ). These results indicated that the antimicrobial peptide CJH may have a significant improvement on the retardation of growth performance and the deterioration of meat quality caused by LPS through immunomodulatory and tissue repair functions.
