在今年九届人大二次会议上,江泽民总书记在对广东代表团的讲话中,向广东人民提出了高瞻远瞩的要求:“广东要在全国率先基本实现现代化”。这是对改革开放先行一步的广东人民提出的新的历史使命。省委、省政府正在为贯彻江总书记的指示进行重大战略部署。关心这一重大战略决策的朋友们将会问,现代化是怎么样的?广东离基本实现现代化有多远?广东什么时候可以基本实现现代化?
At the second session of the Ninth NPC this year, in his speech to the Guangdong delegation, General Secretary Jiang Zemin put forward the far-sighted and far-reaching request to the Guangdong people: “Guangdong should take the lead in basically realizing modernization throughout the country.” This is a new historical mission put forward by the people of Guangdong who took the first step of reform and opening up. The provincial party committee and the provincial government are carrying out a major strategic plan for implementing General Secretary Jiang’s instructions. Friends who are concerned about this major strategic decision will ask how modernization is, how far is Guangdong from the basic realization of modernization, and when can Guangdong basically realize modernization?
