In recent years, the concept of relying on core competitiveness to gain competitive advantage is gradually emerging. Instead of taking a holistic approach, companies begin to embrace this theory and develop core competencies within their own companies by comparing and mimicking the best practices of other companies. Recently, at Knowledge@Wharton (Wharton Knowledge Online), Wharton professors Daniel A. Levento and Nikola Skoko believe that many companies have forgotten to seriously consider other companies in this trend. Whether the mode of operation is equally suitable for themselves, and can give themselves the same benefits. In fact, simply by imitating the best practices of other companies rather than developing the company in a holistic and systematic manner, the company may have a different way of thinking and thus create a competitive disadvantage.
