山石盆景是极具中国盆景艺术特色的重要盆景种类,承载着中国艺术传统的美学思想,也表现了今天人们与大自然和谐相处的渴望与追求。中国地大物博,能制作山石盆景的石种俯拾皆是。忘不了20世纪80年代,我在鄂南的山山水水中,调查和寻觅,发现能制作山石盆景的石种有二十多种。不同的石种,具有不同的石质、纹理和色彩,也就是说它们具有创作山石盆景的不同艺术语
