7月16日,2013年中国·武汉第40届国际横渡长江活动在武汉举行,活动分为个人抢渡赛和群众方队横渡两部分。个人抢渡赛有21名男选手和20名女选手参加,起点为武昌汉阳门,终点为汉阳南岸嘴,直线游程约1800米;群众横渡方队有28支队伍共两千多人参加,横渡起点为武昌汉阳门,终点为汉口江滩三峡石广场,直线游程约5000米。“万里长江横渡极目楚天舒”是本届横渡长江活动的主题。为让更多的游泳爱好者参与横渡长江这一独具武汉特色的活动,今年群众方队横渡的规模最终扩大至2368人.,28个方队创历届渡江节数量之最,组建南昌方队也是原来39届活动所从来没有的。
