The weather forecast says the weather in New York will be “sunny and colder” on Monday, March 12, 1888. Such weather forecasts have become commonplace for New Yorkers. However, when they woke up on Monday morning, they were shocked by the immediate sight. An unprecedented snowstorm paralyzed the city. Cold wind rolled up the snow covered the sky blocked the street. The telegraph line was also broken by being frozen. Heavy snow caused food shortages and 400 people were frozen to death. Ordinary life order was not restored until a week later. It was not until a century later when New Yorkers were still talking about the first snowstorm of 1888.
