This study explores the role of optometrist visibility in lip-reading Chinese vowel recognition for hearing-impaired students. The results showed that the lip shape had a significant effect on lip-reading Chinese vowel recognition for hearing-impaired students. The correct recognition rate of lip-less lip / a //, i //, e / was significantly higher than that of lip lip / o //, u / /, U /, the difference in reaction time is only between / a / and / o //, i / and / o /. Differences in unopensive lip opening, tongue position, etc. did not result in significant differences in recognition effects between each other; differences in lip opening, tongue position, and the like resulted in significant differences in recognition effects. This shows that the effect of lip-reading Chinese vowel recognition by hearing-impaired students is related to the characteristics of the vowel itself.
