建筑工程的抗震设计是确保工程抗震设防质量最关键的一环。根据荆州市２８０项工程设计质量抽查结果，认为建筑工程抗震设计的“常见病”主要表现在抗震设防依据和设防标准、地基和基础、结构布局、变形验算、构造设计、超规范设计等方面存在问题。通过分析“病”因，提出的相应防治对策是：①要根据设防依据合理确定抗震设防标准；②规范地震勘察报告；③加强抗震“概念设计”。
