Since the early 1970s and the late 1980s, the international mineral market has experienced an overall recession. In contrast, the rapid growth of the world economy, especially in China in the early 1990s and the rapid development of India in the early 2000s, led to a sharp increase in the demand for mineral resources in the world mineral markets and in trade. Over the past few decades, the production, consumption and trade of mineral resources have played an important role in China’s economic growth and development. This article mainly makes a comprehensive assessment of the changing characteristics of the international mineral market and trade patterns, attempts to screen out the main factors that affect the supply and demand of mineral resources in China, and empirically analyzes the basic characteristics of China’s mineral resources trade and its development prospects. The author believes that the great potential of China’s mineral resources can become the main driving force for the international trade of mineral resources and thus bring China’s future economic growth, it is still worth observing. Impotence, China is positively influencing the global mineral resources market and trade, which is certain.
