重庆直辖以来,我县发扬“务实树形象、苦干求发展”的精神,立足基本县情,以推进城镇化建设为动力,以富民强县为主题,以结构调整为主线,努力拓展产业空间,大力推进城镇化、工业化,农业产业化发展战略,逐步构建起以县城为轴心、中心集镇为结点的结构完整、规模适度、功能明确、布局合理、基础设施完备、生态环境良好和可持续发展的城镇群,从而有力地促进了经济社会全面进步,被列为第二届全国县域经济基本竞争力提升速度最快的百县(市)之一。
