扁竹花为鸢尾科鸢尾属多年生草本植物,高40～80厘米,根茎横生,黄褐色;单叶互生,无柄,鲜绿色,有光泽,剑形,全缘,顶端渐尖,基部抱茎,平行叶脉,其中有三条最明显;春夏(3～5月)开淡蓝色花,花期约60天。扁竹花属多用途植物,其叶片四季常绿,室内外均可栽植。即使在日照差和潮湿的地方、林荫下以及填埋垃圾的表土较薄的地方也均可自然旺盛生长,不需要过多的人工管理。扁竹花能与乔、灌、草等花木形成多层次立体绿化美化模
