古时候,粤地有个人,素来笃信神仙。他一天到晚想的就是修成正果,成仙升天,简直到了痴迷的地步。他偶然从一本书中得知吃了灵芝可成仙后,就天天不辞劳苦地上山去四处搜寻,希望能在那多得数不清的植物中发现灵芝仙草。终于有一天,粤人寻找到了灵芝——一个烂树桩上生着一个大蘑菇。粤人忘了疲劳,三步并作两步奔过去把蘑菇采了下来带回家去。这蘑菇其实并不是什么灵芝,只是山中常见的毒蘑菇,可粤人一心只想成仙,连这点常识都忘了。回到家里,粤人又郑重地斋戒了三天,尔后,粤人恭恭敬敬地捧出蘑菇,将它煮熟。兴奋地想:“马上要成仙了!”
