东京电力公司很早以来就注视着电力通信用的光纤通信方式,并在一九七八年三月完成了第一条光通信系统。可是,光缆和金属电缆相比,使用时需要细心操作,所以为了推进光纤通信,认为这是应该改进的项目。在这种情况下,本公司和古河电工、日立电线、住友电工以及藤仓电线公司一起共同采用了纤维增强塑料代替以前的尼龙作二次被复(Fiber Reinforced Plastics)(FRP),成功地研制了和吊线绞合在一起的自承型(SSS)架空光缆(图1略)。
TEPCO has long been eyeing the fiber optic communications used in power communications and completed its first optical communications system in March 1978. However, compared with metal cables, optical cables require careful operation. Therefore, in order to promote optical fiber communication, this is an item to be improved. Under such circumstances, the Company, together with Furukawa Electric, Hitachi Cable, Sumitomo Electric and Fujikura Electric Wire Co., jointly adopted Fiber Reinforced Plastics to replace the previous nylon for Fiber Reinforced Plastics (FRP) and succeeded in developing Self-supporting (SSS) overhead cable stranded with hanging wire (Figure 1 omitted).
