如果说,现当代西方戏剧舞台有过断断续续的冷清与低落,戏剧评论界的纷争却一直红红火火。尤其是近一二十年来,“受屈”于评论家的演员与导演时有积怨发泄,使得关于评论家、演员、导演与观众相互关系及误区的争论日益突出。本文汇集了有关资料,尤其得益于有27年实践经验的当代美国戏剧批评家欧文·沃德尔(Irving wardle)的最近著述《戏剧批评》(1992)一书,拟从戏剧评论与舞台表演的关系这一角度,进行一番综合论析。
If we say that the stage of contemporary Western drama has been intermittent desertion and depression, the controversy in the theater critics has been booming. Especially in the past one or two decades, “aggrieved” criticisms of critics and performers have given vent to venting controversy over the mutual relations and misunderstandings among critics, actors, directors and audiences.
