Objective To investigate the dose of positron emission tomography (PET) quality control testing staff (hereinafter referred to as “PET testing staff”) dose. Methods Five PET machines from three prefecture-level cities of Jinan, Qingdao and Weifang in Shandong Province were used for quality control. The radiation dose of PET test staff was measured and analyzed. The annual maximum exposure dose of 20 PET machines was estimated. Results When testing 5 PET machines, the cumulative total body dose of PET examiners, the maximum doses of thyroid and hand were 0.04, 0.04 and 10.69 mSv, respectively. When testing 20 PET devices, the whole body dose of PET examiners, the maximum annual doses of thyroid and hand were 1.57, 1.60 and 427.54 mSv, respectively. Conclusion The dose of PET examiner does not exceed the dose limit of occupational exposure in our country.
