Whether interpreting profile sections quickly or monitoring all aspects of the company’s seismic acquisition / processing / interpretation, interpreters are responsible for the end result. The interpreter must decide on the quality and limitations of the seismic data so that the final interpretation is correct. The phase of the data is one of the important seismic attributes that the interpreter must consider otherwise. Prospects tend to view data phase attributes as part of a regional exploration. Reservoir geophysicists will focus on areas of particular interest associated with a particular reservoir. Anyway, a basic understanding of the phase of seismic data is key to interpreting formation variations, well-location-controlled calibration, geological characterization, acoustic response evaluation (impedance inversion), and accurate reservoir quantification.
