二十八年来，在党的领导下，辽宁局的钻探工作取得了很大的成绩，有了很大的发展。目前有六个综合性地质大队，二个水文地质大队，一个钻探工程大队，一个坑探工程大队，共十个有探矿工程的大队。二十八年总计完成工作量2,506,641米，77年开动钻机最高台数达90台，年度进尺最多的是七六年达214,419米，台月效率最高年度80年为427米。勘探了铁、铜、铅锌、黄铁、锰、金、钼、汞、砷、硼、磷、石灰岩、石棉、滑石、莹石、高岭土、煤、铀、金刚石、粘土、沸石等20多个矿种以及地下水资源，为辽宁局的地质找矿事业做出了自己的贡献。
