Objective To investigate the effects of Toxoplasma gondii infection on reproductive health of women of childbearing age. Methods Serum Toxoplasma gondii IgG, IgM and circulating antigens in 1 316 women of childbearing age were measured by gold standard immunoassay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results The positive rate of serum Toxoplasma gondii antibody or circulating antigen in 171 women of childbearing age was 171 (13.0%). The prevalence of miscarriage, stillbirth and fetus in the positive group was higher than that in the negative group (P <0.01). Gynecological diseases such as uterine fibroids, The prevalence of ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility was also significantly higher than that of the negative group (P <0.01). The positive rate of toxoplasma in pets was higher than that of the non-pets (P <0.01). Conclusion The infection of Toxoplasma gondii in women of childbearing age is closely related to the outcome of abnormal pregnancy and some gynecological diseases. It is of great significance to strengthen the serological surveillance and health education of Toxoplasma gondii in women of childbearing age.
