Aging, infrequent activity, smoking and fast food are accelerating the growing popularity of stroke, heart disease, diabetes and vascular disease, and stroke is the second leading cause of death after ischemic heart disease and is also the leading cause of severe disability . Stroke is already rampant around the world. The status of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of stroke needs to be improved urgently. It is imperative to arouse the vigilance of professionals and the public about stroke. As a result, the Fifth World Stroke Assembly, to be held in Vancouver in 2004, declared: June 24 of each year to be World Stroke Day. Over 100 experts from the United States, France and China jointly drafted the “World Stroke Day Declaration.” The declaration emphasizes: Stroke can be prevented, and applying existing knowledge will save half of people from the risk of stroke. Encourage a healthy lifestyle, learn basic stroke knowledge and proactively prevent and apply secondary prevention medicines at primary prevention level. Strongly support the establishment of an interdisciplinary stroke medicine and rehabilitation team to keep stroke away from us.
