From September 1994 to September 1997, the Chinese government and the European Union have cooperated to carry out the successful implementation of the China-European Union HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Phase I training project. After consultations between the Chinese government and the European Union, they agreed to continue to cooperate in the second phase of the training program to consolidate the training work already carried out and to expand the results of the promotion of the first phase of the project. The second training project began in March 1998 and will end in March 2001. The specific objectives of the project are: to improve the management methods for STD patients at all levels of national health care units; to promote the formulation of national sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS prevention and control policies and the implementation of prevention and control measures
