Southeast Asia, home to more than half of the world’s overseas Chinese, is the largest overseas Chinese living in the land. Their stories are inextricably linked to travel and adventure - the earliest traces of Zheng He’s journey to the West. The Ming envoy, navy generals and explorers conducted a famous voyage from 1371 to 1435, penetrating into present-day Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and East Africa. For trade and seductive life, the Chinese never stopped exploring the ocean ahead, which also foreshadows the cultural collision and the discovery of an era. Between 1405 and 1433, Zheng He and his crew traveled to and from Southeast Asia, one of the most important sea lanes connecting the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean.
