栓剂基质通常有三种,即柯柯豆脂、甘油明膠(仅适用於水溶性药物)及肥皂(仅适用於做泻栓)。其中以柯柯豆脂为最常用的一种,但柯柯豆脂出产於国外,不仅国内不易购得,而且价值甚昂。我国地大物博,物产丰富,在国产物品中找出能替代柯柯豆脂的油脂,是完全必要的。乌柏脂俗称皮油,保乌柏果皮中的植物性油脂,在我国一直是用作制造烛和皂的原料,性质安定,经久不坏,熔点近37℃,很适合作为栓剂基质,並且价值甚为便宜,我国产量很丰富。下面将乌柏脂作一简单介绍。
