This paper reviews the various uranium deposits found in Turkey and provides an overview of the completed exploration work and the results achieved. The Turkish Mineral Survey and Exploration Institute is responsible for the nationwide exploration of uranium deposits. This work is done on the basis of geological controls and traditional radiometric methods. To date, all the discovered deposits have shown secondary uranium mineralization; these are classified as low grade deposits. According to the type and geological characteristics of the deposit, it can be divided into three categories: (1) deposits produced from continental facies clastic rocks found on the margins of ancient rocks of metamorphic rocks; (2) Sedimentary tuffs and tuffs, which belong to Tertiary; (3) Uranium deposits produced in the Tertiary sandstone found around some of the granites.
