8月13日,37岁的伊朗女性玛利亚姆·米尔扎哈尼(Maryam·Mirzakhani)在首尔,从韩国女总统朴槿惠手中接过菲尔兹奖章。她成为“数学界的诺贝尔奖”历史上首位获此殊荣的女性,也是首位获得该奖的伊朗人。菲尔兹奖始创于1936年,每4年颁奖一次,其要求为年龄未满40岁并有着杰出的数学成就,此前的56位获奖者均为男性。8月12日,国际数学联盟(IMU)首尔年会上确定,米尔扎哈尼与另外3位男数学家同时获得了本届菲尔兹奖。米尔扎哈尼现在供职的美国斯坦福大学官网上
On August 13, 37-year-old Iranian woman Maryam Mirzakhani took a Fields Medal from South Korea's President Park Geun-hye in Seoul. She became the “Nobel Prize in Mathematics” and the first female to win this award in history, and the first Iranian to win the award. The Fields Medal was first presented in 1936 and presented every four years. It requires less than 40 years of age and outstanding mathematical achievement. The previous 56 winners were all male. On August 12, at the annual meeting of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) in Seoul, Millzhani won the Fields Medal together with three other male mathematicians.
