顿涅茨克位于卡利米乌斯河上游,有运河与北顿涅茨河相连,是顿涅茨克州的首府,乌克兰第四大城市,也是乌克兰国内俄罗斯人比例较高的城市。建立于1917年的顿涅茨克市面积达381平方公里,人口大约113.17万,以讲俄语者为主。1869年,由哥萨克改名为顿涅茨克。全市共分九个行政区,由便利的电车及公车连接,航空运输及火车交通发达。顿涅茨克曾是苏联时代最著名的煤城,顿涅茨克州有苏联时就闻名的亚速钢厂、伊里查钢厂、焦炭厂、化工厂和盐矿,由于该市蕴藏有非常丰富的煤炭资源,成为乌克兰一个工业要塞。该市主要的工业有煤炭、冶金、农业、机械制造及金属加工等。1990年之前,顿涅茨克的绿化水平在欧洲排名第二,时至今天,市区内的植物园也是全国闻名。
Donetsk is located in the upper reaches of the Kalimusi River, a canal connected with the Northern Donets River, is the capital of Donetsk State, the fourth largest city in Ukraine and also a high proportion of Russians in Ukraine. Founded in 1917, Donetsk City covers an area of 381 square kilometers and has a population of about 1.117 million, mainly Russian speakers. In 1869, the Cossack was renamed Donetsk. The city is divided into nine administrative regions, by the convenient tram and bus connections, air transport and train traffic developed. Donetsk was once the most famous coal town in the Soviet era. The Donetsk region, famous for its Soviet Union, was the steelworks of Azov, Irica, coke plants, chemical plants and salt mines, Rich coal resources, Ukraine has become an industrial fortress. The city’s major industries are coal, metallurgy, agriculture, machinery manufacturing and metal processing. Before 1990, the greening level of Donetsk ranked the second in Europe. Today, the botanical gardens in the urban area are well-known throughout the country.
