1981年1月,广东省海丰梅陇一带发生一系列小震群,至今仍未停止,但已处于衰减过程。统计1981年1—5月,共发生小震1800次,其中M_L≥1.0为477次,M_L≥2.0为15次,最大震M_L=4.2,震源深度3—7.5公里,平均深度5公里。它以明显的三个特点区别于其他小震群:(一)震级小,社会影响大;(二)烈度偏高;(三)P波初动有八种类型,相对较大的地震前后无甚变化。
