I always hear people say that the propaganda about “aesthetic education” in our newspapers and periodicals is not enough, and the review and report on fine arts are even more pitiful. This is true. Moreover, just a few comments and reports on art that I can see have not been taken seriously by our editors and journalists, resulting in many mistakes and even jokes. For example, in a review of the Song of the Forest, a mural at the Capital International Airport, the Beijing Daily on October 16 last year wrote: “The artists and potters worked closely together to make the frescoes of painting perfect and decorative.” This “perfect” formulation seems to be over-exaggerated, not knowing where there is a perfect artwork in the world. Another example is a reporter at Beijing Evening Post on July 8 in which a reporter introduced the work of an artist: “His paintings are simple and elegant, with a fresh and full look.” How can the “pen” be “quaint”? What is meant by “ Elegant ”?“ Fresh and fullness ”in any case is not linked to beauty. Again,
