The most notorious advocate for telecommunications prosperity of the 1990s proved so. In February of this year, the weather in southern California has been getting warmer. The sunlight reflected from the gulf and the tall buildings along the coast. More than 12,000 members from the world’s probably most important technology industry gather in the San Diego Convention Center to attend the annual meeting. Since 2005, this conference has been called “Fiber Optic Communications Conference and Exhibition and National Fiber Optic Engineers” Conference. The conference name is puzzling, and its abbreviations (OFC / NFOEC) are hard to pronounce.
