2002年11月2日,纪念赵元任诞辰110周年学术讨论会暨江苏省语言学会第十五届学术年会在江苏常州举行。薛凤生、郭锡良、徐复、鲍明炜、许惟贤、卞觉非、刘丹青、马景仑等100多位与会学者向大会提交论文70余篇,其中探讨赵元任学术思想的近20篇。会议还邀请赵元任的两位女儿、美国哈佛大学教授赵如兰和中南大学教授赵新娜作了《赵元任生平与学术思想》的报告,共同缅怀一代天才的语言学大师。常州市副市长周亚瑜和赵如兰教授为矗立在常州工学院内的赵元任塑像揭幕。
On November 2, 2002, the symposium commemorating the 110th anniversary of the birth of Zhao Yuanren and the 15th Annual Conference of the Association of Language Societies of Jiangsu Province was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. More than 100 participating scholars, including Xue Fengsheng, Guo Xiliang, Xu Fu, Bao Mingwei, Xu Weixian, Bian Juefei, Liu Danqing and Ma Jinglun, submitted over 70 papers to the conference, including about 20 articles on Zhao Yuanren’s academic ideas. The meeting also invited Zhao Yuanren’s two daughters, Professor Zhao Ruran from Harvard University and Professor Zhao Xinna from Central South University made a report titled “Zhao Yuanren’s Life and Academic Thought”, and jointly cherished the memory of a genius linguistic master. Zhou Ya Yu and Zhao Rulan, vice mayors of Changzhou, unveiled the statue of Zhao Yuan Ren at Changzhou Institute of Technology.
