Treatment of hypoparathyroidism with pharmacological doses of ergocalciferol or its analogues causes difficulties due to the risk of vitamin D poisoning and hypocalcemia. This article discusses the value of serum 25-hydroxycalconol (25-OHC) determination during treatment of patients with hypoparathyroidism.
