On July 6, the Taiwan New Party ’s “mainland delegation to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan ” began its visit to the Mainland and the exchange between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait started another upsurge. In the past, it is clear that there are many political disturbances on both sides of the Taiwan Strait that can not be surpassed. There are also national righteous superiorities. However, under the global economic situation, cross-Strait economic and trade exchanges are becoming more frequent and deeper. A study by Taiwan’s “Council for Economic Planning and Development” pointed out that Taiwan’s economy should pay special attention to its investment in the mainland market if it wants to maintain a 5% economic growth rate by 2020. Statistics show that more than 80% of the Taiwanese businessmen who invest in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan have made profits. Among the 40,000 Taiwan-funded enterprises that have already opened their doors, more than 6,000 are planning to increase their investment. At present, over 62,000 Taiwan-funded enterprises in the mainland have actually funded more than 36 billion U.S. dollars. Recently, there have been a series of new changes in the cross-Strait relations. What is most outstanding is that the mainland’s Taiwan policy has become more pragmatic and flexible, placing the rights and interests of the people in Taiwan in a more important position so that Taiwan compatriots can feel the co-existence of one China Pride and dignity. Co-operation is beneficial and points are harmful. Cross-Strait political and economic relations and trade will surely make even greater progress.
