Drought resistance of nine winter wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivu am L.) and their suitability for a wide range of water-limited environments (year-to-year combination of twenty-three trials) were evaluated. Drought tolerance is described in terms of relative grain yield under severe soil water deficit. The response of each variety to the environment was determined by the regression of the average yield of the varieties in the year-site average yield. The low variance-square estimates indicate that the species response can be highly predicted based on the average yield of points.
