第一届秋狝大典据《康熙起居注》记载,康熙二十年(1681年)四月初五辰时,康熙皇帝向太皇太后问安后,“遂往狩北界”。皇子宗室、满汉朝臣、八旗精兵伴驾,一行人浩浩荡荡:北出长城要塞喜峰口,会蒙古喀喇沁部迎驾王公并三千骑兵,在辽阔的游牧区经察汉城、乌兰布尔哈苏、席尔哈河、拜查……最远行至巴尔汉附近的温泉,十六日“驾旋”……沿途一路骑射行围。随驾文臣高士奇在其所著《松亭行纪》中记述下了这趟骑射之行的盛况:
