Objective To understand the mental health status of pilots and their impact on the mental health of pilots. Methods Spouses of 261 pilots (males) and 239 pilots (husbands) were assessed for symptom checklist (SCL-90) at the same time. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between the pathological and psychological symptoms of pilots and their interaction, and there was no significant difference in the pathological and psychological symptoms among couples and spouses of all ages (the first two groups were only in the paranoid symptoms and the latter two groups only in the psychotic symptoms (P <0.05). Compared with Chinese norm (female), the mental health of pilots aged from 23 to 29 was significantly higher than that of Chinese pilots, while that of pilots aged 30-39 was significantly lower than that of Chinese norm. Conclusions suggest that pilots couple pathophysiological symptoms were highly correlated, interaction.
