艺术——包括舞蹈在内,都是人类在长期社会实践中所创造的认识现实、反映现实的特殊形式。据艺术史学家考证,所有的艺术门类中,舞蹈是最古老的艺术之一。舞蹈作为一种最古老的艺术,它的源头来自哪里呢?在有文字记载的几千年的社会发展过程中,人类经历了各个不同的历史时代,有过各种不同的生产方式和生活内容,舞蹈艺术正是在这些多种多样的生产方式和生活内容的基础上,伴随着历史的进程、时代的印迹,从无到有,由低级向高级逐步发展起来的。
