知识分子首先也是需要生存下去的,只有生存下去,才谈得上精神层面的坚持、文化知识的传播。不同的社会阶段、不同的社会体制,生存都是第一位的。在农业社会,耕读文化的耕无疑就是生存的基础,先有耕才有读。耕也不是以一成不变的形式存在的,而是随着经济的发展,社会分工的细化,以及对土地的依赖程度而逐渐减弱的。但起码在农业社会,耕是经济基础的代名词,因此,本文所说的耕也不仅仅局限在土地的耕作,而是广义的经济收入和经济来源方式。
