早稻僵苗是湖区水稻生产的重要障碍。据我们在常德、益阳、岳阳等地区调查,1980年湖区10个县早稻僵苗面积达100万亩。1981年由于采用了各项防治措施,湖区早稻僵苗发生面积仍有30多万亩。危害程度,据常德地区僵苗研究协作组在安乡县部分社队近30亩的实地调查,每亩减产138.2-481.
