著名编辑家、出版家、本刊编审委员会主任委员宋原放同志,1923年1月生于江苏扬州,早年于苏北参加革命,1942年10月加入中国共产党。他长期从事党的出版工作。1959年1月,担任上海人民出版社社长兼总编辑。“文革”期间,遭受迫害和不公正待遇。粉碎“四人帮”后,恢复职务。1980年11月任上海市出版局局长,1983年1月至1985年10月任上海市出版局党委书记。离休后,致力于出版史的研究整理工作,主编《上海出版志》、《中国出版史料》(十卷本),并热情支持在上海筹建出版博物馆的工作。1996年,他被中国出版工作者协会授予“伯乐奖”;2004年被授予中国韬奋出版奖。2005年6月30日因病医治无效,在上海华东医院逝世,享年八十三岁。
