Endothelin (ET) is a polypeptide composed of 21 amino acid residues. It is a kind of damaging factor produced by the body in hypoxic-ischemic state and participates in the pathophysiological process of many diseases in the body. It is an endogenous, sustained-acting peptide with potent vasoconstrictor and vascular smooth muscle proliferation with a wide range of non-vascular effects on the heart, respiratory, urinary and neuroendocrine systems. Because ET has a strong vasoactive, and the stability of gastric mucosal blood flow on the integrity of the gastric mucosa has an extremely important role. Therefore, the role of ET in gastric mucosal injury caused great interest in this article through the observation of plasma endothelin levels in patients with peptic ulcer, to explore the relationship between ET and gastric mucosal injury.
