The author has analyzed the non-verbal nature of classical Chinese modal particles through the analysis of ancient related materials. This article extends the previous discussion and proceeds with two arguments: First, the relationship between Chinese characters and Chinese language determines the lack of tone when spoken language is converted into written language. Therefore, Spoken “Ci ” Into the ancient written language has the inevitable necessity. Second, it summarizes the changes of Xu Shen ’s idea of “meaning inside and outside ” in the Qing Dynasty and the disappearance of the concept of “outside the word” in the first half of the 20th century. Finally, the conclusion that “classical Chinese is the spoken language of the ancients ” is the so-called “traditional ” conclusion, which is an unproved pseudo-proposition born out of Western language theory, completely contrary to the true history of Chinese language development.
