本研究利用二语句子产出任务,考察中国英语学习者的隐喻启动效应。研究发现:1)被试在接受包含特定始源域信息的图片刺激后,更倾向于产出与刺激一致的概念隐喻,出现了“隐喻启动效应”。这是由于启动信息加大了特定始源域的权重,制约到之后的隐喻选择;2)隐喻启动效应的本质是一种内隐的概念启动。在语言输入之外,认知主体还可以整合视觉符号信息表征抽象概念。整个研究表明,抽象概念需要借助具体概念,通过隐喻映射机制完成表征,符合概念隐喻理论的基本假设。
In this study, we use the second sentence production task to investigate the start-up effect of Chinese EFL learners on metaphors. The findings are as follows: 1) Subjects are more likely to produce conceptual metaphors consistent with stimuli after they receive images stimuli containing specific information about the origin of the original source, and “metaphorical priming effect” appears. This is due to the start-up information increases the weight of a particular origin domain, restricting metaphor choice afterwards; 2) The essence of the metaphor priming effect is a kind of implicit concept initiation. In addition to language input, cognitive agents can also incorporate visual notation information to characterize abstract concepts. The whole study shows that abstract concepts need to be characterized through metaphorical mapping mechanism with the help of concrete concepts and meet the basic assumptions of conceptual metaphor theory.
