Optical time domain reflectometry is an important test instrument for optical fiber communication. It can be used to test the length and location of optical fibers, to test fiber loss values and loss distribution along the length, and to test connector loss. This article introduces the intelligent long wavelength optical time domain reflectometer developed by the author using microcomputer technology and digital average technology. The paper mainly describes the principle and application of digital multipoint average and the structure and function of the instrument.
