我们发现,我国英语学界对某些英语结构和词语的说明,虽然在英语著作中被普遍传播,在英语教学中被不断强调,在英语考试中被一再列为考核项目,然而却是与英语的实际情况相违背的。下面仅举几例,向同行们请教。 一、cannot…too, can never…too 《英语难题一千则》(北师大出版社,1992年版,p.310)中有这样一则:1.One can never be too careful.直译为“绝对不会太细心”,意译为“越认真越好”。2.We can not work too much for the people.直译为“为人民服务我们绝不可能做过分的工作。”意译为“为人民服务我们做工作越多越好”。3.He can never love her too much.直译为“他对她决不会有过多的爱”。意译为“他永远也爱她不够。”
We find that although the explanations of some English structures and terms in our English academic circles are widely spread in English writings, they are constantly emphasized in English teaching and are repeatedly listed as examination items in English examinations. However, Contrary to the actual situation. Here are just a few examples to ask your colleagues. One, can not ... too, can never ... too “English thousand” (Beijing Normal University Press, 1992 edition, p.310) in this one: 1.One can never be too careful. Literally translated as “absolute Not too careful, ”meaning“ the more serious the better. ” Literally, “we can never do too much work for serving the people.” The free translation is “We serve the people and we work better and better.” Literally translated as “He never had too much love for her.” It is translated as “He always loves her not enough.”
