According to the Science Policy Outlook magazine, the science ministers of OECD member countries met in Paris from September 26 to September 27. The meeting agreed that continued investment in public and private science and technology will be crucial for the development of a knowledge-based economy, employment expansion, improvement of the quality of life and protection of the environment. These inputs should include scientific research, advanced education and technological development and training in the industrial sector. They also agreed that it is now more and more difficult for a country to achieve its own scientific and technological goals independently. Therefore, all science and technology policies in various countries must be closely integrated with international cooperation. Ministers focused on the following issues: establishing mechanisms conducive to promoting effective international cooperation in large-scale science programs;
