正当全球企业兼并浪潮汹涌澎湃之际,美国通用汽车公司(GM)前不久却宣布,将从八十年代其兼并的电子数据系统公司(EDS)撤出全部股份。 长期稳居世界500家大企业排名之首的通用汽车公司,1994年销售额却不敌4家日本公司,位退第五。如果说,这是由于《幸福》杂志改变了评选方式所致,况且凭着通用汽车公司7倍于前4名公司之和的巨大利润,表明其不存在什么颓势的话,那么在被认为是企业寻求经济与竞争实力的兼并大潮面前,通用公司的逆向举措委实给人“一头雾水”:这位“汽车巨人”的肌体究竟有无萎缩之处?其经营状况和全球战略如何?
Just as global mergers boomed, General Motors recently announced it would withdraw all its shares from its merged Electronic Data Systems Corp. (EDS) in the 1980s. Long standing among the world’s top 500 large enterprises ranked the first General Motors, 1994 sales but lost to four Japanese companies, retirement fifth.
